This week in Brussels International we meet an Italian artist who came to Brussels to make an original light installation on the building of the Beursschouwburg.
Stefano Cagol's FLU POWER FLU is a one-year-long installation of public art in Brussels, curated by Cis Bierinckx and commissioned by Beursschouwburg Art Center.
The installation has opened on September 29, 2007.

Following a brief part of the essay about the artwork by Cis Bierinckx, Artistic Director Beursschouwburg Brussels:
"The Art Center Beursschouwburg in Brussels commissioned Stefano Cagol to realize a new work for the front of the classic building in the heart of Brussels.
Cagol's work FLU POWER FLU doesn't miss it's effect with the Marriot Hotel facing the Art Center, the stock exchange on the side and Brussels as house of the Nato and the European Community.
Power is a worse virus than HIV or other bad bacteria as it can't be beaten. It intimidates all forms of freedom and leads only to destruction and perversity. Power, in all it's forms, has become one of the worst influenza's which is slowly killing mankind.
Stefano Cagol's light sculpture flashes day and night as a statement, as a 'Soziale Skulptur' with a direct activist message."
Stefano Cagol is an Italian contemporary artist based in Trento, Trentino Südtirol, where next Manifesta 7 will happen starting from July 2008, curated by Adam Budak, Anselm Franke / Hila Peleg, Raqs Media Collective.

SOME FLU ? TRIP - 2007 stefano cagol

Stefano Cagol's art action.
It is a TRIP from Trento to Brussels for realizing the Public Art Project
"FLU POWER FLU", a one-year-long public art installation commissioned by Beursschouwburg Art Center and curated by Cis Bierinckx.
During the trip the question "Do you want some flu?" is emblazoned on the sides of a white van, but mirrored because needs to be reflected on others, to influence others.
