The International Committee of the Red Cross called on Israel to allow it immediate access to Gaza, saying a trip into Gaza City revealed weak children laying with their dead mothers and other "shocking" scenes.
Red Cross workers and four ambulances from the Palestine Red Crescent Society managed to enter the Zaytun neighborhood of Gaza City on Wednesday, according to a written release. The crew found four children, too weak to stand, next to their dead mothers in a house containing 12 corpses, the statement says.
Other houses revealed more wounded and three more corpses, the release said. It said Israeli soldiers posted near the houses ordered the rescue team to leave the area -- an order the team refused.
"This is a shocking incident," said Pierre Wettach, the ICRC's chief official for Israel and the Palestinian territories. "The Israeli military must have been aware of the situation but did not assist the wounded. Neither did they make it possible for us or the Palestine Red Crescent to assist the wounded."
A spokesman for Israel's military said early Thursday that the Red Cross's news release was the first he had heard of the alleged incident. Speaking after midnight, the spokesman said he was unsure if Israel has received a formal request to investigate.
"We do make every effort and our soldiers do put themselves at risk" to help wounded civilians, the spokesman told CNN's Christiane Amanpour.
The Red Cross release said the children and other wounded were taken to ambulances in a donkey cart because earth walls erected by Israeli soldiers made it impossible for the ambulances to reach their neighborhood
It said the group was told more wounded people were in the neighborhood, and demanded that Israel grant it and the Red Crescent immediate access and safe passage to search for them.
The Israeli spokesman said the military has established a 24-hour liaison to maintain contacts with humanitarian organizations.
The Israeli military operation in Gaza has killed at least 680 people and injured more than 3,000 since it launched December 27, Palestinian medical sources said Wednesday. Thirty percent of the deaths are women and children, according to the U.N.'s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, citing statistics released Tuesday by the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

Seven Israeli soldiers and three civilians have been killed since the operation, the Israeli military reported.
Israel says the purpose of the operation is to stop Hamas militants from firing rockets from Gaza into southern Israel. |

7 Rockets hit Israel from Lebanon- إطلاق صواريخ على إسرائيل من لبنان

سقط عدد من صواريخ الكاتيوشا صباح اليوم من لبنان على شمالي إسرائيل, موقعة أربعة جرحى, في حين ردت القوات الإسرائيلية بقصف منطقة الإطلاق.
وقال مراسل الجزيرة في القدس إلياس كرام إن خمسة صواريخ أطلقت من قرب بلدة الظهيرة اللبنانية الحدودية باتجاه منطقتي نهاريا وشلومي شمالي إسرائيل.
بدوره أفاد مدير مكتب الجزيرة في بيروت غسان بن جدو أن الجهة التي أطلقت الصواريخ لا تزال مجهولة, مستبعدا أن يكون حزب الله وراء إطلاقها. ورجح أن يكون هذا التطور وراءه إما جهة تمكنت من اختراق جنوب لبنان تأييدا للمقاومة مع غزة, أو أن يكون عملا مشبوها.

وفي رده على إطلاق الصواريخ, قصف الجيش الإسرائيلي منطقة الإطلاق بخمسة قذائف مدفعية. كما طلبت قيادة الجبهة الشمالية بإسرائيل إقفال المدارس في المستوطنات المحاذية للحدود وحثت على البقاء في مناطق آمنة.
وأوضحت مراسلة الجزيرة في بيروت بشرى عبد الصمد أنه لم يبلغ حتى الآن عن وقوع أي إصابات على الجانب اللبناني. وأضافت أن الطيران الحربي الإسرائيلي حلق بكثافة فوق القطاع الغربي بالجنوب.
وقالت مراسلة الجزيرة إن مصادر إسرائيلية استبعدت أن يكون حزب الله وراء عملية إطلاق الصواريخ.
كما بدأت القيادة العسكرية الإسرائيلية في شمال إسرائيل اجتماعا طارئا لبحث الموقف. وأشارت المصادر العسكرية إلى أن الصواريخ المستخدمة هي من الطراز القديم والقصير المدى.
نفي واتهامات
وقد نفت حركة المقاومة الإسلامية (حماس) أي علاقة لها بإطلاق الصواريخ على شمالي إسرائيل. وقال مصدر بالحركة لوكالة الأنباء الألمانية إن حماس "تقاوم وتحارب داخل الأراضي الفلسطينية المحتلة"

Schools and kindergartens were closed in Nahariya and the nearby town of Shlomi, the Israel Defense Forces reported.
The Israeli military warned civilians in the western Galilee region to stay close to shelters in the aftermath of Thursday's attack.
The report comes as Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, aimed at halting rocket fire from the Hamas-ruled Palestinian territory to the south, entered a 13th day.

Painful. Excruciating. Unbearable. These are the words most often associated with childbirth.
But what about pleasurable? Blissful? Euphoric?
Some women even say that instead of agony, childbirth can be ecstasy.
Amber Hartnell of Hawaii said she experienced an orgasm during labor when she gave birth to her son in September 2005.
"All of a sudden the orgasm just started rolling through and rolling through, and it just kept coming, and my whole body was spiraling and rolling, and I was laughing and crying," she said.
Hard to imagine? Hartnell and her husband, Nassim Haramein, were shocked as well. Although they had spent many hours planning for their son's birth, in a tub under a tree outside their home, they say they never planned for an "orgasmic" birth.
Haramein was amazed -- and also relieved -- to see his wife experience such pleasure.
"It made me feel like everything was gonna be all right," he said. "The experience didn't have to be a traumatic, painful experience. It could be an experience of ecstatic joy."
"It is, as we say, the best-kept secret," said Debra Pascali-Bonaro, a childbirth educator for 26 years. "I believe by women having such terrible fear. Women aren't getting the choices they need, to make the experience as easy as possible."
Labor Orgasms Are 'Basic Science'
To prove that it is possible to have pleasure in childbirth, Pascali-Bonaro made a documentary called "Orgasmic Birth."
Tamra and Simon Larter of suburban New Jersey were one of the couples that allowed Pascali-Bonaro to film their most intimate moments of labor. For their second child, the Larters wanted a natural birth with midwives at their home. They spent part of Tamra Larter's labor kissing and caressing.
"The physical touch and the nurturing was just really comforting to me," Tamra Larter said, adding that she ultimately experienced an orgasmic birth. "It was happening, and I could hardly breathe, and it was like, 'oh, that feels good.' That's all I could say really."

"Engel" (Ángel en idioma alemán) es el primer sencillo del álbum Sehnsucht (1997) del grupo musical alemán Rammstein. Fue la primera canción del grupo en sonar en la radio y con ella comenzaron a ser conocidos en su país. Es una canción peculiar dentro del repertorio de Rammstein por los efectos de silbidos generados por el teclado electrónico de Flake Lorenz y la voz femenina que canta el estribillo. En la versión de estudio dicha voz pertenece a Christiane "Bobo" Herbold, cantante de la banda pop alemana Bobo in White Wooden Houses.
El 23 de mayo de 1997 se editó una segunda versión del sencillo con el título Engel, Fan-Edition.
El texto de la canción es obra de Richard Z. Kruspe y habla de la soledad que sienten en el cielo, "detrás de la luz del sol", quienes por sus buenas obras en vida se convierten en ángeles al morir. El cantante concluye que él no quiere ser ningún ángel (de lo que podría inferirse que tampoco está dispuesto a ser bueno en vida).
El videoclip de la canción está inspirado en una de las escenas de la road movie gore de Robert Rodriguez From Dusk Till Dawn. Till Lindemann, Flake Lorenz y Christoph Schneider se encuentran entre el público de un espectáculo en el que una bailarina de striptease baila con una serpiente enroscada al cuello al son de la música que tocan Paul Landers, Richard Z. Kruspe y Oliver Riedel.
