In this song, Compton residents Lorenzo Jerald Patterson (Ren) and Eric Lynn Wright (Eazy-E) try to paint a picture of life on the streets of one of the most dangerous cities of the United States. Below is an un-urbanized version of the lyrics.

I'm Eazy-E from the east side of South Compton and I will tell you an uncensored story about how a black man feels, by talking about sad things. I am someone who lives in a group of buildings for really poor people. Is the word "gangsta" still being used to describe someone like that? I am a black man, a perfect "gangsta".
